Think Spring, Think Color written by Wendy Prehn Wersal, AKBD

Wilsonart Laminate Flooring is featured in this newly renovated kitchen.

THINK SPRING - THINK COLOR

Yes, the trend for colors that bring the beauty and vitality of nature into residential living spaces stays strong.  Lucky for those of us in Minnesota, the colors of the coast are making their way to the Midwest to brighten our long months without the greens of summer.

This kitchen brings in a breath of spring air with a coastal color of “Parfait” yellow cabinets and Clary Sage green for the walls.  While this kitchen reflects the tastes and desires of the client and complements the style of their home, it incorporates many of the latest trends in color and design.

Yellow is strong, from the pastel’s you see in this kitchen to a vibrant zest that adds pop to a more contemporary setting.  Green is now considered a neutral.  It comes in shades from gray to blue tones, and of course is representative of nature.   Be brave in coordinating other colors with it.

The countertops are durable Cambria quartz that adds depth of color and contrast and it picks up both the green and yellow hues.

Another favorite place to add a splash of color is the back splash.  These glass tiles pull the colors of the room together with yellow, greens and taupe’s, and add a great focal point behind the cook-top.

The laminate floor adds warmth and a natural feel to the room.  The floor is Zen Cherry wood grain that contrasts the solid cabinets with just enough yellow veining to blend.  Few would guess the floor is actually a Wilsonart Laminate, which gives it the durability to withstand this busy working kitchen and two entry doors from the outside.  Wersal says “Floors of Distinction make a great design partner because of their selection, design expertise and customer service”.
